Knee Scooter Model

Kids / Small Adult Knee Scooter Rental in Kansas City

The Knee Walker Jr is our smaller-frame knee scooter — sized for pediatric users (typically ages 8-14 depending on height) and smaller-frame adults who find the full-size adult models oversized and harder to control. Lower knee platform, smaller overall footprint, and lighter chair weight combine to make it the appropriate fit for riders who don't match a standard adult knee scooter.

Best For

  • Pediatric post-operative recovery (foot, ankle, leg)
  • Smaller-frame adult recovery where full-size knee scooters are too tall or wide
  • Riders under ~5'6" who want a more appropriately-sized frame
  • Parents of pediatric patients seeking a recovery tool better than crutches for a child
  • Home-based recovery where a smaller footprint fits a child's bedroom or shared spaces better

The Knee Walker Jr is the pediatric / smaller-adult knee scooter in our Kansas City rental fleet — the same functional concept as the full-size adult knee scooters, sized down for riders whose height doesn’t match the standard adult configuration.

Who the Jr. Is For

Pediatric patients recovering from foot or ankle surgery. A child whose surgeon has prescribed non-weight-bearing recovery typically gets crutches. For parents, this often means weeks of carrying the child’s backpack, helping up stairs, and watching the child struggle with upper-body fatigue. A properly-sized knee scooter solves most of that — children take to it quickly and prefer it to crutches.

Smaller-frame adults under roughly 5’6”. Adult riders who find standard knee scooters too tall — the platform too high to bend the knee comfortably, the handlebars too wide — benefit from the Jr’s smaller proportions. Most manufacturer specifications list a height range; we can confirm fit during the reservation call.

How the Rental Works

Same delivery workflow as our other knee scooters — Kansas City hotel, residence, or Airbnb. Setup at delivery: we adjust the knee platform for the specific rider, demonstrate steering and braking, and leave our direct number. Typical pediatric recoveries run 4-8 weeks depending on the procedure; extend as needed.

If the rider is adult-size, see the HYBRID or QUAD instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this sized for?
Pediatric users roughly ages 8-14 depending on height, and smaller-frame adults — typically under 5'6". The knee platform height adjusts lower than a standard adult knee scooter, and the overall frame is proportionally smaller. For most adults, one of our standard-size knee scooters (QUAD or HYBRID) is the right fit.
Is a knee scooter safe for children?
For most pediatric lower-leg recoveries where the surgeon has prescribed non-weight-bearing, yes — and pediatric patients often take to it faster than adults do. Children find it less fatiguing than crutches and more fun. Confirm with the surgeon that the child's specific recovery protocol allows a knee scooter.
How does this compare to the QUAD or HYBRID?
Size, primarily. The Knee Walker Jr is smaller-framed; the QUAD is adult-size all-terrain; the HYBRID is adult-size indoor/outdoor versatile. If the rider is under 5'6" or is a child, Jr. is the fit. If the rider is adult-size and needs outdoor capability, QUAD. If adult-size and primarily indoor, HYBRID.
Will a 14-year-old fit on this?
Depends on height, not age. A 14-year-old who's already 5'8" fits a standard-size knee scooter; a 10-year-old who's 4'10" fits the Jr. Measure the child's height and compare to the manufacturer-specified height range — we can confirm fit when you call to reserve.
What about weight capacity?
Approximately 200 lbs [TODO — verify exact manufacturer rating]. Most pediatric users and smaller-frame adults are comfortably under this limit.
Is it harder for a child to operate than for an adult?
Slightly more adjustment on the learning curve but not meaningfully harder. Most pediatric riders are comfortable within 10-20 minutes. Parents should plan a supervised practice run in a safe flat area (a driveway, a hallway) before first outing.
