Best For
- Larger-frame adults who find the 18-inch standard snug
- Extended-duration rentals where seat comfort matters over hours
- Post-surgical recovery for riders whose body frame is above average
- Bariatric-adjacent: riders who need extra width but are under the 300 lb capacity of standard manual wheelchairs
- Convention and multi-venue visits where comfort over long days wins out
The 20-inch-seat manual wheelchair is our “wide-standard” — same frame and folding mechanism as the 18-inch but with two extra inches of seat width. It fills the gap between “ordinary standard adult” (18-inch) and “bariatric” (24-inch reinforced). Many larger-frame adults find the 18-inch noticeably snug over an 8-hour day; the 20-inch addresses exactly that.
Is This the Right Size For You?
Quick rule of thumb: measure hip-to-hip seat width at the widest point. Add an inch of margin for comfortable sitting. If the result is 19-20 inches, this chair is right. If it’s 18 or under, the 18-inch standard is the better fit. If it’s 22+, the 24-inch bariatric is probably the right call, especially if rider weight is above 300 lbs.
How the Rental Works
Same flow as all our wheelchair rentals: hotel or residence delivery, bell-stand hand-off or coordinated window, folded for trunk transport at the end. See the wheelchair overview page for the full cross-size comparison and pricing on the main site.
